Quieter Take-Off With a Rolls-Royce Engine

Ash and Lacy have recently supplied the acoustic linings for Trent XWB-84 engines on the Airbus 350 to help absorb noise from the engines fan making it one of the quietest jetliners ever.

Manufactured by British engine-maker Rolls Royce, the Trent XWB is a series of turbofan engines developed from the Trent 1000. The XWB-84 is the latest engine of the Trent family, and is used exclusively for the Airbus A350 XWB. The first flight of the Trent XWB powering the Airbus A350 XWB took place in June 2013.

Acoustic liners in the engine housing play an important role in reducing turbo-machinery noise before it leaves the engine, converting acoustic energy in to very small amounts of heat. Ash & Lacy liners have been very effective in reducing fan noise at aircraft departure.

Together with the responsible manufacturers we work with, Ash & Lacy are committed to minimising the effect on the environment and providing a recyclable product wherever possible.

Ash & Lacy are proud to be an approved supplier to Rolls Royce Aerospace.

Vision Art Gets The Message Across
Vision Art from Ash & Lacy has completely transformed a primary school in Burton upon Trent, much to the delight of the children and teachers.

Vision Art from Ash & Lacy has completely transformed a primary school in Burton upon Trent, much to the delight of the children and teachers.

The school in Burton has been expanded from a 210-pupil infant school to a 315-child primary school catering for youngsters up to the age of 11.

The new building is a striking three-story concrete structure, complete with a rooftop play area and balconies open to the elements, fronted by what council architect Adrian Cox described as a ‘metal-faced organic cladding system’.

He told the local press “The idea is about the journey the children take through their education and their life, with all its twists and turns. As an architect, there’s nothing better than designing things for children. It’s an incredible feeling to see their faces when they see the new building.”

The change from using a uniform perforated pattern on building facades to a customised pattern is easily achieved through Ash and Lacy’s Perforators technical expertise. Using our unrivalled knowledge in this field and dedicated software it allows quick and accurate interpretation of the image to be perforated.

Our involvement at an early stage of design can clearly influence the overall look of the project, cost and lead times without altering the integrity of the architects design.

In-House Wet Painting Installed at Ash & Lacy

The introduction of a wet painting booth will lead to a more cost efficient, one stop solution for high specification components.

The introduction of a wet painting booth will lead to a more cost efficient, one stop solution for high specification components.

The thinner 20 micron paint coating makes this the ideal finish for fine hole perforated materials whilst quick colour changes for low volume, high specification grills also makes this the most efficient solution.

A reduction in lead time, WIP and finished stock will allow Ash & Lacy to continue to be a cost efficient, one stop solution for high specification pressed components.

For When Precision Levelling Really Counts

Accurate levelling is crucial to any successful project; Ash & Lacy have the expertise and equipment to ensure optimal flatness at all times.

Accurate levelling is crucial to any successful project; Ash & Lacy have the expertise and equipment to ensure optimal flatness at all times.

The perforating process naturally curls any material, resulting in a warped sheet if not corrected, so controlling the flatness is key to our customer’s next process, especially when going through an automated line like a Salvagnini.

We fully understand that the slightest curve or bow can ruin a project so by using high specification stretch levelling equipment we can control the stress and natural curve produced in the perforating process.

Continual investment and planned maintenance keeps us ahead of the field in this area.

Quality And Accuracy With a New EDM Drilling Machine

Ash & Lacy have invested in a new EDM Drilling Machine to meet and exceed our customer’s requirements for high specification, fine hole perforating.

Ash & Lacy have invested in a new EDM Drilling Machine to meet and exceed our customer’s requirements for high specification, fine hole perforating.

The increase in demand for high specification fine hole perforating, together with our process of continual improvement, has led to the significant investment in a state of the art EDM Drilling Machine.

High specification fine hole perforating requires accurate tooling manufacture from dedicated high volume production hole drilling machines. Dedicated features on our latest investment greatly extend unattended machine operations and increase productivity while holding positional accuracy of 0.0015um over 300mm.
